THERESE PROGRESS NOTES
Therese Atkins is a 77-year female, who has a shunt on the right
side of her head, her last imaging was July 20222, and she was
found stable right-sided hemiplegia with/ some contracture
Therese is also wheelchair dependent, she has lost the ability to
talk fluently, her husband does most of the speaking on her
behalf
Her progress story is relayed by her husband, they have been
married now for fifty-six years, with her husband Kenvil Atkins.
Kenvil seems to understand his wife's thoughts even though the
two don’t discuss the subject, and can correspond on behalf of
his disabled wife.
The continuation of Therese journey living with a shunt place in
her head as told by her husband. In my observation for the last
six months or so, Therese has functioned normally she seldom
shows signs of fatigue or restlessness, she is always gentle and
smiles often, the one drawback is that on occasion she
quenches with pain by holding her right leg and massaging it, I
am not sure what kind of discomfort she is suffering from.

Today
Life With a
Shunt
Her eating habits have not changed much, I suppose the main
reason for that is the diet I place her on, and the intake of food
at the precise time of day. Below are some pictures of her
afternoon snacks, Therese has a strict morning schedule one
that has worked for me quite well.
Wake up alarm at 10:AM
Followed by a bath or a body sponge
Medication at precisely 10:30 AM, taken with a
combination of juices followed by a cup of coffee
Bathroom break number 1 or 2
A change of garments
Five munites of walking before placing her on her rocker
is mandatory
She then will doze off on her rocker for two hours 11:30 –
1:30
Snacks at 1:30 PM, a combination of green, lettuce
tomato carrots celery onions bell peppers mixed with
balsamic vinaigrette dressings. Side of cold cuts of the
sort
Her afternoon schedule is as follows, with some variations and
limitations.
